What do you think about about Online Dating?

I am a 59 year old successfully retired Black Widowed male. I was married for 40 years and have 5 wonderful children and 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren My wife passed away a year and a half ago from cancer. God bless her Soul... She has been my soul mate sense high school in 1968 we got married at 19 years old in 1971. So it hard for me to adapt i miss my wife my chidren want me to be happy again and im looking for companionship im not desperate i have a full peaceful life just a little lonely. I have not been to successful in meeting some one on senior events and its a real drag, but im havent giving up hope on meeting some one and still making my self available and visible on social events on occasions Im reading a lot of Dating Books on dating and trying to get back in to dating and meeting some one for just companionship if the chemistry is ok.. I have never been on a online dating site before. Is it a dangerous thing to do?. I was told by my some freinds that have tried online dateing before in there past said that there are some manipulator's online?? Im not sure if i want to go on to online dating site???? I have been getting a lot of advertisement emails on my computer from many online dateing sites and im getting interested but im just not looking for trouble..
